How do I Navigate Canvas? (Middle and High School)

Dashboard:

The Canvas Dashboard displays course cards for the courses you are observing. If your account is paired with several students, then select the student's name at the top of the page.  Your dashboard will then reflect this student's courses.   

  • Observers will see courses that teachers have published.
  • Select Dashboard in global navigation to view the course cards.
  • To view a course, select a course card.

            If multiple middle/high children, use the drop down menu in the top right to switch between each student's dashboard.

 

Courses:

To view all courses you are enrolled in as an Observer, select Courses in global navigation.  Select All Courses.  This will show a list of the courses.  You can determine which courses you see on your dashboard by selecting the stars next to courses. 

            Go directly to a course list using the Courses link in global navigation. Click All Courses to see a full list.                 

            In the All Courses Pane, select the star in front of the course name to make it appear as a tile on the dashboard.            

 

Course Organization:

When you open a course, you will see information specific to that course (syllabus, important documents, etc.). Links to an external site.

 A teacher may organize course content in Modules.

         Select modules in Course navigation menu to view organized course content
